Unable to start array without an internet connection?

Featured Replies

From what I've read I should be able to start the array without an internet connection but mine wont start without one.  I'm running 6.3.5 with a paid license (plus).  Any ideas?

Thanks!

So have you actually determined that it will start with an internet connection?

Or does it just not start and you think the reason may be because you don't have an internet connection.

It works without issue when I set the server to use the correct default-gateway.  If I change the default-gateway to a bogus address it fails.

So to confirm, it works as expected with a internet connection but not without one.

It should start. It does however take minutes to do this without a connection

Hmmm.  I waited about 10 minutes each time and gave up.  I just started it again without an internet connection.  I'll let it go longer...  How long should I expect?

It took 21 minutes to come online without an internet connection.  Thank you very much for the help!

It's because the docker system insists on checking for updates when starting the array.  Couple of defect reports / feature reqs to have it not do this.

As Squid's replied, it's the Docker Update process that hangs the system. I have exactly this issue as I've got my pfsense as a VM.

I've gotten around it by having htop running (as ssh is up by then), finding and killing the docker update php script that tries to run. It's a pain, but I don't reboot much.
