unRAID OS version 6.4.0-rc9f available

Featured Replies

I just had an issue with a docker build on this version of unRAID.  I was working on my LMS docker and when built locally it would fail to run.  When built on the Docker Hub it worked fine.  I'm not sure there is any action item here for LT, I just wanted to say that I believe there may be an issue with this version of Docker.

None of the other Dockers I worked on had this issue.

docker in -rc9f is the same as -rc8q ...

Updated from rc8 without problems (currently my unRAID is storage only).

Observations:

1. on first open of "Plugins" page, all had status "unknown". After a reload of the page all was fine.

2. as long as the array was not started, something was causing strong disk head movement every second. I don't remember having heard that before the upgrade. During upgrading  of gfjardim's "Preclear Disks" plugin, the movements stopped. I don't know whether this is related to the plugin itself or simply to the fact that during the upgrade there is other activity. Any idea what the root cause of the sounds could be?

Booted in Safemode, had <48hrs of uptime on rc9f ... Full system lockup.

Same has been happening since rc8q. No idea what to do! Can't get diagnostics once the system gets into this state.

I understand it's a beta ;) But I'd like to know that once 6.4 hits stable this issue goes away :D

It's definitely none of my plugins causing the issue... Which leaves Docker (I believe) is there any useful config I can post (once I get home from work) to help diagnose this situation?

I am using Macvlan on one of my Plex containers but that's about it for 'special' setup.

My previous report of this issue is in the rc8q thread. I shan't cross post but it's on page 13 or 14 :)

I would install the 'Fix Common Problems' plugin and turn on the troubleshooting mode.  That periodically writes a syslog file to your flash drive which might provide some clues.

BTW, I had a similar problem very recently and it was the power supply!!!  I found it only because the syslogs weren't revealing any other problem and I suspected that it had to be a hardware issue.

@Squid

The CA Resource Monitor no longer shows cAdvisor, I have removed the plugin and docker and reinstalled, tried other browsers and gui theme. My backup server however on 6.3.5 works just fine.

I will cross post just for the sake of showing that I did this already :)

I looked through every file of the log myself and although I'm no pro.. I know my way around Linux and nothing stood out to me!

I'm happy with the stability of my hardware. Including the PSU, 80+ Gold, be quiet! 550w Straight Power :)

It memtests for days with no issues and it's not as if it's crashing under high load, it's seemingly when it's doing nothing :/ So I'm stumped!

(The PSU has support for the lower power C states of Haswell so it's not like it's that either) I'm used to uptime in months, or between unRAID updates, whichever comes first ;) Happy to hear any other suggestions :D

I would next roll back to version 6.3.5 and see if you still have the problem.

I don't believe this will prove anything.

I've been fine up until rc8q and rc9f.

6.3.5 worked fine for me but I like the features and options available in 6.4, unless someone at Limetech wants me to jump back to an early version I won't be messing around with that :)

Im having issues with docker too. Some of them start but rest say unable to find container. I might have to roll back to rc7.

It will provide some indication as to weather the issue is software of hardware related.  If you previously used 6.3.5 without a problem, you should have a problem if you revert to it.  IF you do, I would be suspecting a hardware issue.

Well i have ryzen so ive been running RC7 for longest time with no issues at all. Once i upgraded this started to happen.

You're having similar issues? :P

I completely agree that that distinction would be good to have. But I know hardware, my entire job is hardware, my feeling does not lean towards a HW issue :)

I have also been using previous 6.4 releases, without a problem. And could just as easily roll back to an earlier RC.

@ljm42 - You've got similar hardware to me, how's rc9f behaving for you? :)

Actually how do i downgrade to  a previous RC? trying to get back to RC7 but only option is Next and Stable.

You can go back to the previously installed version by copying the contents of /previous on the flashdrive to the root.

Squid Could it have anything to do with the new letsencrypt SSL stuff?
I'll revamp the code. Code expects no separate IP don't know about SSL

FTFY YW! :D

Just another one, when I was looking at my share tables earlier, some folders in my shares said it was located in the incorrect disks, e.g download folder said disk4 disk5, however if you go into that folder all the data is on disk3. (No empty folders on disk 4 or 5 either) some folders showed in "cache" however they are on the array not the cache drive. Could the table info get jumbled up? I have drilled down to the drives and data is where it should be, the GUI reports the information incorrectly.
