Cache drives filled up and VM's stopped

Featured Replies

Hey all,

This could just be me missunderstanding how unraid works but i just had a situation where i had a ton of data being moved into the array and the cache drives just filled up to 100% and then my VM's were suspended.

I would have though the array would have started moving from cache to mechanical drives to prevent them from filling up completely?

I manually invoked the mover and it is fixing itself now

If you have the share as "cache prefer" it will fill the cache first then overflow to the array until Mover can sort it out. If the share is "cache only" it will only use the cache until it is full then stop.

Thanks, i will double check when i get home but i am fairly sure it is not 'cache only' it lists the share size as like 13TB (which i sure dont have 13TB of SSD's lol

Not only does cache-prefer overflow to the array, but it also moves from array to cache if cache is not full.
