welp all...

I was able to update the card... and it sees HDDs that are larger then 3tb... (my current largest is 5)

so... that's a win... now... I just need to get unraid to see that card...

advice?

I am updating unraid first to see if that will correct the error...

forward progress :)

the disk drives are MIA... I have attached my logs... and advice to what direction I should go in would greatly be accepted...

this is my 2nd ever SAS controller... and what else I might need to change or configure...

perhaps its related to drivers? but it's an old card... so... it should work...

I should note... that the SAS card doesnt have the BIOS loaded into it... (but new firmware) I would assume that this means that the disks would be presented as a jbob to the OS...

Would i need to load a BIOS onto the card?

after some reading... the msg 3ware BIOS not loaded... is a mute point...

that shouldnt hinder the operation of unraid communicating with this card...

Controller is detected and a driver loaded, but don't see any attempt to find devices:

Sep 27 18:38:37 Tower kernel: 3w-9xxx: scsi1: AEN: INFO (0x04:0x0053): Battery capacity test is overdue:.
Sep 27 18:38:37 Tower kernel: 3w-9xxx: scsi1: Found a 3ware 9000 Storage Controller at 0xfe520000, IRQ: 43.
Sep 27 18:38:37 Tower kernel: 3w-9xxx: scsi1: Firmware FE9X 4.10.00.027, BIOS BE9X 4.08.00.004, Ports: 16.

No idea why it doesn't work, but IMO you should have bough a known supported controller, like an LSI.

hmmm... well... at least i know it's not a a driver issue...

now what?

Did you check the export JBOD setting? Details are in my reply to your other post:

BTW the 9650SE is a SATA only, not a SAS controller.
