Formatting my unRAID server

Featured Replies

Hello,

I want to format my unRAID server eg start from strach, i have moved all my data over to another storage device,

is it as simple as taking the usb drive out formatting it following the same steps as before and putting my licence key back on ?

or is there something i need to do with the drives before i do the above the step ?

any help would be great

Thanks

Not sure why you would have to touch the USB key, what is it you are trying to achieve? What is it about your current config you want to change or get rid of?

Hi Ashman70

i am unable to fix the issue i have which i posted here

so formatting is my only option

Did you try setting Cache to prefer, running mover to get the data back from the array, and then resetting to Only?  The only screenshots you posted on the other thread show cache disk as "yes", which will cause the data to be written to the array rather than retained on the cache disk.

To answer your question, if you have your data all backed up then yes - formatting the USB will start over from scratch with one exception.  That exception could be relevant here - if you just reassign your disks and they still have data on them, unRAID will see the top level directories and assume they are your user shares.  In this case you don't want that since it looks like your appdata is on the array...
