Accessing OVMF bios settings on a vm causes IOCK error and server lockup

Featured Replies

On 6.2.4. No diagnostics available since server just starts dumping errors and goes unresponsive via ssh and web GUI. Happened twice in a row.

Server is a dl580 G7 (which has its own quirks on unRaid.)

Weird stuff. Thoughts?

Since you are on an ancient version I would update unraid to one that is supported. Other than that I have no suggestions.

6.2.4 is not ancient. A year or so?

6.3.x has multiple issues with hp servers that crippled usability.

6.4rc is not stable.

So I'm running the only stable and reliable version of unraid available on hp servers.

I thought I remembered you had some issues.

You know LT are going to say, try the 6.4 Rc. They are for sure not going to release a fix for 6.2.4 that was EOL when 6.3 was released.

"some" issues is an understatement, but when they got all sorted, both servers run like champs! well, until this new issue.

I'm not asking them for a fix to 6.2.4. I'm asking if anyone has any thoughts on a strange issue, or had a similar problem. My guess is it is a weird thing to do with hp bios and the linux version in 6.2.4 as the .img files I used were created on another hp server with a year older bios vs. what they run on now.

And LT won't say try the 6.4 Rc on a main server when they themselves state that there is a risk of data loss due to the inherent nature of using an os in development. My suspicion is that I'll be not accusing the ovmf bios again until 6.4 goes stable.
