September 28, 20178 yr I was running a pair of e5504 in a asus z8pe-d12x for almost three months now without issue. Today I swapped in a pair of x5670. The system posts fine, and I can get into bios, and set my boot priority's. But when I try to boot into unraid I end up with a blank page with only a dash thats flickering. I can't figure it out. Plz help! Edited September 28, 20178 yr by jamster_b
September 28, 20178 yr Can you switch back and see if it will boot? Also are you sure nothing in BIOS settings have changed? A reboot with old CPUs would tend to prove nothing in BIOS changed but if the OLD CPUs have the same problem then a setting likely changed when you swapped them.
September 28, 20178 yr Well it is working now so you have that at least. Hopefully someone else will have an idea. It might still might be a bios setting that needs to be changed for unRAID to run with the new CPUs but I really have no idea what - but I do have a couple of things you could try if no one else has a better suggestion. Tests you could try: You might try turning off UEFI boot and go to legacy boot. Turn off VT-d if it is turned on. I haven't looked to see if VT-d is compatible with your old processors but not with your new one since you often need more info than I have to get the correct listing on Intel site. Set bios to default settings and see if that works. If it does then change them back to what you had one by one until unRAID doesn't boot. If you have a "Safe" bios setting try that and see if it works. If it does then change them back one by one again. Downgrade/upgrade unRAID version. If your on 6.2.4 try 6.3.5. If your on 6.4 try 6.3.5 or 6.2.4. If your on 6.3.5 try 6.4. Have no other ideas - sorry. Edited September 29, 20178 yr by BobPhoenix
