Replacing Data Drive Error

Featured Replies

I had a drive that was starting to get some bad sectors (3TB drive) so I followed the steps on:
https://wiki.lime-technology.com/Replacing_a_Data_Drive

with an 8TB drive as the replacement drive. Yes, parity drive is also 8TB.

It ran for 18h 40m and now it shows that drive (DISK 2) as Unmountable: Invalid partition.

Free space went from 20.4 TB to 18.4 TB. Seems like the 1 TB that was on there got moved somewhere and it just shrunk the array?

Check Disk Filesystems

Diagnostics would also be a boon.

Diagnostics attached.

What would you like me to do with the Check Disk Filesystems page? Reading the first line it says:

"If the drive appears to be missing, then you are definitely not in the right place! This page is only for file system issues."

The drive's not missing.  It's unmountable.  Hence the need to check it's filesystem

I have the option at the bottom to format the drive.. wondering if it just moved that data to another drive and this one still needs formatted.

That's a bug in rc8, upgrade to rc9 and rebuild again.

Don't do that.

Started in Maint Mode. Clicked on DISK 2
Run xfs check with -nv
Here is the results:

Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... - block cache size set to 1503104 entries

Phase 2 - using internal log - zero log... zero_log: head block 123191 tail block 123191 - scan filesystem freespace and inode maps... - found root inode chunk

Phase 3 - for each AG... - scan (but don't clear) agi unlinked lists... - process known inodes and perform inode discovery... - agno = 0 - agno = 1 - agno = 2 - agno = 3 - process newly discovered inodes...

Phase 4 - check for duplicate blocks... - setting up duplicate extent list... - check for inodes claiming duplicate blocks... - agno = 0 - agno = 3 - agno = 2 - agno = 1

No modify flag set, skipping phase 5

Phase 6 - check inode connectivity... - traversing filesystem ... - agno = 0 - agno = 1 - agno = 2 - agno = 3 - traversal finished ... - moving disconnected inodes to lost+found ...

Phase 7 - verify link counts...

No modify flag set, skipping filesystem flush and exiting.

Johnnie is the expert here.  Well advised to do as he suggests

Should I unassign DISK2. Shutdown, power ON, reassign DISK2 and then should that rebuild option be back?

I just have a parity check option right now

You need to upgrade to rc9, reboot, unassign disk2, start the array, emulated disk2 should now mount (unless there are other issues), stop the array, re-assign disk2, start the array rebuild again.

All steps followed. Will update tomorrow when it finishes rebuild.

Thank you both for your assistance!

If all went well disk2 will already be mounted and accessible during the rebuild.

Looks good?

Thanks for helping out.  Hey what's that "code" in your sig?  Something to do with the Illuminati perhaps?

Something to do with the Illuminati perhaps?

lol, it's just my server list, since I'm always tinkering with them I don't have a complete signature or it would be a pain to keep up to date, so I just list the disks, this way it's easy to update, it's the number of disks on each server, single or dual parity and usable capacity.

FYI: 5 PLEX streams going adds some major hours!

Completed and disk returned to normal operations.

Thanks again!
