"Phone home" DNS name or IPs?

Featured Replies

I route my unRAID server though a virtual pfSense instance that is running on unRAID.  This causes an issue with boot time.  Without internet access my server takes about 20 minutes to boot and I would like to speed this process up.  I would like to write an access-list in my firewall that allows unRAID to successfully phone home during the boot process.  Once the process is complete, and the pfSense firewall is back online, all traffic destined to the internet will route via the pfSense firewall.  I'm using a Cisco ASA firewall and have the ability to write rules based on domain names.  Are there specific domains the server uses during the "phone home" process, if so, what are they?  If DNS names are not used, do you know the IPs that are utilized?

Thanks in advance!

Unless you're running the trial version, there is no "phone home" at all.

The delay is caused by the docker system insisting on checking for updates at boot time for the containers.  AFAIK, the domain should be registry.hub.docker.com

Alternatively, if you have the entire docker system disabled and then enable it afterwards, the boot time should be very quick.
