October 3, 20178 yr I have had trouble with my sound since I started using Unraid. Reading around I figured, since I can't passthrough my onboard sound card, I will go ahead and buy a USB sound card and use my PCIe USB Controller to fix the problem. So I bought a USB 3.0 PCIe Controller and a Xonar X7 USB sound card. After a couple of minutes of perfect sound, the sound drops though and I have to reconnect the sound card to get sound back again. What I have tried: Using USB passthrough in Unraid Passing through the PCIe USB Controller Passing through an onboard USB Controller Adding "vfio-pci.ids={Onboard USB Controller ID}" to my syslinux conf Installing the latest driver from ASUS Now the thing that worked best for me was the onboard usb controller, which worked for a day or two, but then it started disconnecting every other minute. Do notice, that I have my mouse and keyboard connected to the same controller, which works perfectly fine. tower-diagnostics-20171003-1515.zip Edited October 3, 20178 yr by Elmegaard
October 8, 20178 yr idk man. i was looking through your logs to see anything obvious. im not seeing anything that pops out to me. but then again im pretty noobish myself on this.
October 8, 20178 yr Author I am using it yes, but my sound card does not show up in the list. I have checked everything else though.
October 8, 20178 yr I used HDMI sound, not USB, so don't have any experience. MSI fixed my audio problems. I would think that if you are passing through the USB controller, that the device would be seen naively by the VM OS, and it would not be a problem.
October 9, 20178 yr Author I would think so too, but it is only a problem with Unraid, if I use the same sound card in a native Windows installation, there is no issue.
