Unformatted bug when adding data drive

Featured Replies

I've now seen this bug twice.

First time was when I was messing about, unsuccessfully, with adding a jumper to one of my WD15EARS data drives. Although I have the syslog, its usefulness is likely to be diluted buy a host of errors from the drive (I had to remove the jumper to get it back to normal). Not good data.

Second time: new WD20EARS, jumper added before use.

- Precleared drive

- Stopped array

- Assigned to disk4

- Started array

- disks 2, 3 and 4 showed as unformatted. Screenshot attached. (Not disk1? Have vague recall that all 3 data disks showed unformatted when I first saw the bug)

- stopped array

- restarted array

- only disk4 shows unformatted. Screenshot attached

- formatted disk4; all looks good.

syslog attached

Motherboard= GA-MA785GT-UD3H

CPU= AMD Sempron 140 2.7GHz

Let me know if there are other tests/data that would be helpful
