Parity disabled

Featured Replies

I haven't had any issues so far and i haven't made any changes so i was surprised to see that my parity was disabled when I checked this server. Not sure why or what to do about it. I have attached the diagnostics file. Where do I go from here?

You lost your parity disk more than two weeks ago, you need to enable system notifications.

Parity dropped offline, so there's no SMART report, reboot and grab new diags.

When you reboot enter the bios and see if your SATA controller supports AHCI or SATA mode, anything but IDE, but IIRC ICH7 only supports IDE.

I checked the Bios and it doesn't seem to have the ability to change that setting, I don't even see any setting for the SATA controller. Attached are diagnostics as of 5 minutes ago.

SMART looks OK, I suggest to replace/swap cables, just to rule them out, resync parity using the same disk and see if it holds up.

IDE mode is not good, lower performance and much more likely do drop disks when there's a problem, but it's the only option you currently have.

Ok i replace the cable for another one that I had and brought the server back up. still says faulty though. Smart self test completes without error. I am 5% through a read check. I have attached latest diagnostics file.
