October 9, 20178 yr Upgraded my server hardware & software this weekend. FINALLY on 6.35 and everything is back up.... but it's a tad too secure. All my shares are set to SECURE. Unfortunately I cannot write/delete/change any of them from my Win7 PC- every attempt results in "You require permission from Unix User\1000 to make changes to this file" On the one hand, I like that my files are safe from accidental deletion/infection at my hands. (I AM the biggest risk in my network) But I need to be able to access them for the occasional rename/replace/upgrade/etc. I can't even monkey with files on the cache drive. Is there an elegant way to keep the security PLUS allow myself the occasional write access. I was hoping I could simply create a user account that I could use for such things- which keeps me locked out for the 95% of the time I DON'T need write access, but if I remember correctly, Windows caches login credentials, meaning my first login would leave the door open for me and malware. Ideas? Suggestions?
