October 11, 20178 yr So about a year ago I built myself a NAS/VM machine based on 846E16-R1200B chasis, since then i switched the PSUs to 920SQ versions due to their high inefficiency and noise. According to the IPMI CPU fans are at 1000RPM using NH-U9DX i4 and the case fans are at 4200RPM. I tried going into BIOS and messing with the fan profiles but it did nothing. All hardware is kept at a cool temp. and the room the server is in isn't hot , but if I keep the door open it feels like I am walking by a turbine...... I tried installing a plugin for fan control in unRaid but it does not detect the fans. Does anyone have this combo or have any suggestions as to how to quiet the chassis? I know I could get a hardware controller and just adjust it manually, but I would rather be able to have it adjust by itself or I could have control over it remotely. Anyone use the ASUS IPMI to control fan speeds if possible? Thanks in advance
