NFS - cannot get it to work

Featured Replies

This is probably something I'm doing that is dumb but - I can't seem to get NFS to work.

I'm running 4.5.1  User shares are working fine via SMB.  I set up a share named Backups.  Settings are:

Allocation Method:  Fill-Up

Included disks:  disk4

Export (SMB):  read/write

Export (NFS): *(rw)

I can access the SMB share from my XP desktop and my 2008 server.

I've installed SFU nfs client onto the XP box.  As a test I created a nfs share on my 2008 server and mounted it onto the XP box.  I did this via Map Network Drive as server:/TestNFS.

I can't get XP Pro, NT2008, nor my ESXi 4.0 server to access the unRaid NFS share (if it's even being shared).  On all 3 I've tried tower:/Backups and 10.1.1.5:/Backups.

Share security is Simple.  I've rebooted the unraid box several times.

The message I get on the XP box when I try to mount it is:

Attempting to connect to tower:/Backups...

then: The network path tower:/Backups could not be found.

I must be missing something easy.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

you need to specify the full path for nfs when you try to mount the share..

ie. tower:/mnt/user/Backups
