So, anyone selling their 15-20 drive unraid box?

Featured Replies

I might be interested in buying one.

Well, let me rephrase it. Preferably without drives as I've got my own but that depends on what you have and how much you want for it.

Thanks

Limetech sells one that you can purchase.

If your interested, and in the Ohio area then I would be willing to build something for you.  If you have specs in mind great, if not then PM me and we can talk.

Yes!  I just built a 20 drive server out of a Norco 4220 that I would be interested in selling.  The total package without drives should be about 45 lbs, so you can use that to estimate shipping.  My zip code is 89512.

I'm also willing to build you a custom server if you have something else in mind.

Why was the honeymoon so short?

Haha, well, I bought that Norco 4220 + mobo deal with the idea of selling it.  More accurately, I bought the parts for 3-5 servers and planned on selling all but one.  I figured the smaller 5-6 drive servers would sell more easily and I would end up keeping the 20 drive beast, but I'm not too particular.  I'm happy with my 8 drive budget box, and I don't really need more than that.

I also wanted to test out my three 'recommended builds' as well as possible so that I wasn't leading anyone astray.  As much as I would love to keep my little server family, it makes much more sense for me to sell off what I don't need.

You should start doing that full-time.

(So should I if I wasn't so lazy  :D )

That's actually the plan, or at least part of it.  I'm starting up a tech company here in Reno as soon as I get back from my Europe trip (mid July).  I'll start with basic computer service, repair, etc., but I hope to transition into custom HTPC and server setups as the company becomes more stable.  I think selling a Revo HTPC + unRAID miniBox home theater package for under $1000 is an attainable goal.

Maybe someday I'll be able to work out some agreement with LimeTech and sell actual Lime-branded unRAID servers.

This is all in addition to my day job, so don't worry, I'll still have plenty of time to waste on these forums ;)  Still, as the company takes off, I'll probably have to cut back on or even quit my job.

Cool, you can switch your name to RajaTech  :D

Hey, that's not bad....  I've been struggling to come up with a good name.  Most of the good ones are taken.

Need a partner?  Somebody to bug the hell out of you every day?

With our history, how could I say no ;)

Seriously though, PM me if you are actually interested.  You obviously know a lot of the software/coding side that I don't.  I need someone like that.

Guiri, I'll call you soon.

Bro, good talking to you tonight and I look forward to getting this unraid server from you.

Drives should be on their way in a day or so.

Prostuff, thanks for the offer but I decided to go with Raja and I actually realized I had already talked to him back in August 2009 when I found out about the unraid.

Thanks

No worries, glad you got a server and welcome to the unRAID club.  It might just well become an addiction... ask Rajahal ;)

Yeah, I'm not the addicted kind but I need a reliable storage solution but I love it when there is a good forum with people who care and thanks again for offering.

:)
