October 25, 20178 yr Is there any downside to the latching variety? My server currently uses non-latching and it seems like anytime I sneeze in the general direction of the server, a cable comes loose... If latching are acceptable, could someone link to one that is recommended?

They permit you to change drives without even opening the case. While they are not cheap, I can tell you they make make things so much easier over the long haul. Just be sure to make sure that the 'doors' have key locks on them as there was one fellow recently who was having drives dropping offline with no apparent cause. Then he saw his three-year old son pulling on one of the latches!
