Plex & Windows?

Featured Replies

I had ESXI running on my system and I have had a few problems with it and looking for a better solution.  I need to have a Plex server & a normal OS running. I am doing some upgrades to my system and would like to know what my options here with using unraid.

Specs

i7 2600k

Asus system board

16Gb ram

1050ti

250gb Samsung SSD

4x 6TB red drives

Now I am adding the GPU SSD and 2 more reds to this build.

Looking to make sure I get the most out of my drives/space but also 100% safe from a drive failure.

Raid5?

I also wanted to make sure that I can use Plex new hardware transcoding as well that is why I got the GPU to help out with that.

If I am missing anything or you need more information please let me know.  Hope to have everything on Friday and have it all setup so the sooner I can get my answer the sooner I can get my system setup!!!

Thanks again!

unRAID is not RAID, so no to RAID5. You must let unRAID format any disk it will use as cache or in the parity array.

You can run Windows as a VM, and run plex and other applications as dockers.

I know unRAID is not Raid5 but I was not sure how I can set this up...

Using Dockers does the hardware transcoding work with Plex?
