Moving to a new case...match SATA connections?

Featured Replies

Quick question.

When moving to a new case, do I need to remember SATA cable positions on the motherboard? For example, do I need to make sure that whichever drive was plugged into "sata1" on the board in the old case, is the same in the new case? Or, will unRAID match the drives by serial and populate the array correctly, regardless of which SATA port on the MB they are plugged into?

thanks!

No, unRAID keeps track of drives via serial numbers. It is a good idea however to take a screen shot of the MAIN tab of your unRAID setup before you make changes so you have a record of where the drives were. It's also important that the current parity drive remain the parity drive in the new setup.

Ok. Thanks.

I figured as much, but wanted to make sure.
