Disk that Won't spin down

Featured Replies

Jumped to 6.4 after boot issues with 6.3, now I have a disk that WILL NOT spin down (Disk 5) I went through all the share, disk settings and the individual disks. I can't find anything. I can see the system is now writing to disk 8, but disk 5 is still spun up like it has writes going. Any help is appreciated.

Does it spin down if you click the 'Spin Down' button on 'Main' or the individual disk spindown control next to 'Disk 5' line on Main?

Looking at vars it appears disk5 has a different spin down setting - it's set to 15 min but all the others are set to "use default".

syslog does show all drives except disk5 spinning down.

Unrelated, syslog also shows read errors on disk8 - you might want to look into that.

Yes, manual spin down works fine an it appears the disks stay spun down until accessed next. I set disk 5 to a manual 15 minutes just before posting this in an attempt to force it to spin down, in case it wasn't pulling the setting.

That attempt failed how ever and it does not spin down unless I force it manually.

Waiting for Black Friday to buy a drive unless my hand is forced. Stupid archive drive

This disk still won't spin down, I'm creating a new post in the rc10b thread.
