To Change or Not to Change the Idle time using WDIDLE.exe

Hi Everyone,

Could you please help me to figure out what to do with my WD Green WD20EZRX 2 TB drive which is a year old now and working just fine. I have been using it on my Desktop PC for saving huge  games and Video collection.I have read that a lot of people have changed their idle time to 300 using wdidlw.exe but most of them were using their HDD for Server or it was a part of their NAS. Few of them have even disabled the parking altogether, which I rather not do with EZRX drive.

I ran smartctl on the disk and it shows :

Spin up time                4,183

Start stop count            657

Power in hours            4,496

Power cycle count         465

Load cycle count       21,898

I haven't changed the idle time using WDIDLE tool yet.

What would you recommend for me as I am not using it for a NAS or for server operations. But still, would love to see my HD to work for years to come. Would you recommend changing the idle time to 300?

Any other utility if you would like to recommend to increase the life of the HDD and keep it in good health.

Thanks a lot.

Do you realize this is an unRAID forum, not a general storage forum?

Anyway, I disable the idle timer on all my green, blue and red WDs, if you don't want to completely disable it at least change from the default 8 seconds to 300.
