Unable to pass through USB connection to monitor

Featured Replies

I've just installed an self-calibrating monitor which requires a USB connection, but I have been unable to pass it through to any VM. Allow me to elaborate.

The monitor is identified as 'Controls (Monitor)' under USB devices in the VM editing screen. Selecting it and updating the VM produces an error: 'internal error: cannot parse vendor id 0xMonitor'. Under system devices I see that there are two USB devices associated with the monitor (a hub and HID monitor controls). Manually editing the XML to add these devices produces an execution error when starting the VM (please see attached images).

I'm not sure where to go from here. Any tips? Thanks!

Update: Reversing the order of the tow USB devices in the XML solves the execution error. The hub is now recognized by the virtual machine (listed in MacOS system profiler), but not the Monitor Controls. The calibration software (ColorNavigator 6) does not recognize the calibration hardware.

It might be that you need to pass through a whole usb controller for your monitor to work. There is a guide on the forum of how to do that.

Never pass through connected devices when you pass through a hub.

unRAID tries to pass through the connected device but then "loses" access to it when the hub is passed through.
