reven
I had a power cut and server obviously shut down. When the power came back up, my docker containers werent really working, and I had lots of these errors in the logs Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/comics statfs: Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/data statfs: Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/domains statfs: Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/downloads statfs: Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/dump statfs: Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/games statfs: Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle emhttp: err: get_fs_sizes: /mnt/user/hadashboard statfs: Input/output error I checked my docker tab and it said 20gb of 20gb were in use, so I tried to delete the docker.img (read that on the forums, not sure if I should have done that, have I lost all my apps/settings???) It couldnt recreate the image, kept getting this error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle root: Creating new image file: /mnt/user/system/docker/docker.img size: 20G Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle root: touch: cannot touch '/mnt/user/system/docker/docker.img': Input/output error Nov 10 23:39:14 Oracle root: failed to create image file I created it in a different location and that worked, but when I try to install a app it fails. Before I keep going down this path of reinstalling/setting up my apps (which is a lot of work), how can I fix the Input/Output errors? Which I believe is my main issue causing my problems. I'm not sure if the power cut is really to blame, it just happened after I turned the server back online. But some apps had been acting kinda funny a day or so before the power cut, but after it nothing worked. Plex etc wouldnt load (started, but web gui etc wouldnt load) and that was working fine before the power cut (had been watching stuff that day). Quote Link to comment
MowMdown
You should post your Diagnostics.zip file for better support You didn't lose all your docker container settings as long as you didn't delete your appdata share and templates. (Which reside on the USB) An easy way to reinstall them, as if they were never gone, is to simply install them from the Apps tab, and make sure you select the proper template. All your previous settings should populate the container as they were before you deleted the docker.img After doing the above, your actual docker should be like it was all your settings and configurations left untouched. You may have removed the physical disk, you still have the emulated disk, and in case you're not aware, that leaves the array unprotected, i.e., if another disk fails you'll lose data. reven
how do i go about removing the emulated disk? Quote Link to comment
reven
https://wiki.lime-technology.com/Shrink_array suggests doing a "New Config" when the array is stopped. I'm reluctant to do this without confirmation. I cannot lose my VMs. I have one with a lot of things installed, and I dont want to have to start that again. My docker apps arent that big of a deal, I can restart those. I rather not if I can avoid it though. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
There's a lot of data on disk6: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/md6 1.9T 1.6T 258G 87% /mnt/disk6 You need to move everything you want from disk6 to other disk(s) before doing the new config. Quote Link to comment
reven
like i said, that disk isnt there, i dont seem to have any data missing. its be out of the system for about a year now. New config, will this lose my vmwares????? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You will lose everything on the current emulated disk, all 1.6TB, if the vdisks are there you'll lose them also. Quote Link to comment
reven
no that vm is on disk7. liked I said disk6 has been out of my system for about a year or so, so theres nothing on there. Ive run parity on my system a number of time since removing the disk, parity said it was fine. so if i do a new config, will i lose all my settings etc? if the vm is on disk7, will it automatically find it again? or do I just point it to that location? or will i have to recreate the VM and use the disk image ? ideal world, i go to new config, i assign the disks to their old places (what about disk6, since there was no disk6, should I put disk8 where disk6 was, so disk7 stays the same with the vm image?) will all my apps/vms etc then be as they were? or do I have a busy night ahead of me reconfiguring every app and vm? You seem to not understand how an emulated disk works, there's 1.6TB of data there, if it's important data or not you'll need to check for yourself. Quote Link to comment
reven
telneting into the unraid box, i get the input/output error trying to do a ls on the /mnt/disk6 (other disks work fine) using the webgui and clicking the browse button, shows 0 objects, 0 directories, 0 files. lets assume, i dont care about the contents of that disk. my vm is on disk7 thats what i really care about. the rest are just movies/tv shows that I can rerip if really needed. if i go to a new config. Will I lose or my apps or will they come back? Will my vm reappear, or will I have to readd it? Should I put disk8 in the disk6 location and then keep the rest in their previous order? JorgeB
New config doesn't touch any of the data disks contents, you can also rearrange the data disks any way you like, important thing is assign the current parity disk to the parity slot. Quote Link to comment
reven
ok, did a new config, set the drives as mentioned with disk8 becoming disk6, everything else was the same. my VM is still there on the dashboard and I can VNC into it, so thats good news. But all my apps are still gone. EDIT: looks like my docker.img file must have been trashed when I was trying to fix it. So guessing all my apps settings are lost and Ill have to reconfigure/install them Edited November 11, 2017 by reven Quote Link to comment

So guessing all my apps settings are lost and Ill have to reconfigure/install them No. Make sure that docker is Stopped and delete the ‘trashed’ docker.img file is deleted. Then when you restart docker a new empty one will be created. If you now go to the Apps tab and select Previous Apps, you will be able to restore the settings for your previously installed dockers. As long as you had the dockers correctly configured to store their settings outside the docker.img file (typically on the appdata share) you will be up and running as you were before your issues.
