Bitcoin Mining - Tulip or Terrific?

Featured Replies

Anyone in unraid land leveraging their server to do bitcoin mining?  I know its an up and down (Tulip or Terrific), but it seems that by using hardware that's just laying around that I might generate some revenue since the 'cost' of the equipment running is already paid for (i.e. its already running).  Looks like its been a couple years since anyone raised the question on the forum, so assuming the answer is probably Tulip.  But there do appear to be a number of bitcoin dockers out there.

On my Win 10 VM I run nicehash using my GTX 750ti, not a lot of money to be made but most of the time that VM is not used.

I have a FX-6300 6 core CPU on the unraid system, using core 5&6 for the VM.  With nicehash running, the VM is sometimes sluggish to to point I need to stop mining while I need to use Win 10.

I am not about to buy a GTX 1080ti either.

If you are mining always keep your key backup file and paper copy.  In April 2013 I transferred $5 from mining.bitcoin.cz pool to my wallet.  I stopped mining, lost key for wallet, now that is worth $325.  Too bad eh?

A CPU or GPU under load uses more electricity than at idle so there is a cost that you'll need to recover...
