how do i get WebGui on v6.3.5 back without rebooting? [Solved]

Featured Replies

Need to some help reloading the webgui process it appears to have crashed while a data rebuild was in progress (upgraded one of my 2TB to 8TB) so I dont have to reboot it and potentially lose out on many files some of which are very important...

I was in the gui fine when my rdp for my windows 10 vm disconnected. I was able to verify via the WebGui the VM shut down. i tried to start it and thats when it crashed. i can access my dockers via their webguis just fine (had plex running 5 streams I was able to launch upto 14 total (11 through tabs) and it was like the server is running nice and fast....

using a link i found on google i used these command with some issues.....

A couple of my own learnings:

1.  Using the power button does not properly shut the array down and unmount the disks.  unRaid will run a parity check upon restart.

2.  For the menus not running, telnet into your system and run the following at the command line to restart the unRaid webGUI

killall emhttp

nohup /usr/local/sbin/emhttp &

3.  For unMenu:

cd /boot/unmenu <---- unmenu doesnt exist

uu

so unmenu directory doesnt exist and not sure it should for 6.3.5 (this post is 5 years old)

I was able to  killall emhttp

and "nohup /usr/local/sbin/emhttp &" and waited about 20 seconds for the prompt to come back.

But all i have in the /boot directory is

You can check the rebuild progress on the console:

mdcmd status | egrep "mdResync"

It will display some values, including:

mdResync=total parity size

mdResyncPos=current position

When it's done reboot.

Looks like the whole server locked up about 2hrs ago. I had htop running on the monitor attached so time was locked on screen. Mouse and keyboard were not responding. I had to hard cycle the power as I cannot close my garage with out homebridge running.

so good news is that the forced reboot did not appear to hurt anything the data rebuild just kept going on as if it never stopped....

hmmmm 6 days later my unraid appears to have crashed hard...cannot SSH and cannot load webgui...appears gui boot might be culprit as my server appears to do this about every 6 -7 days, a reboot solves it for 6 or 7 more days....I will get my wife to boot it into nongui mode when she gets home as im stuck at work for another 9 hours.
