November 13, 20178 yr I’m trying to free up some slots in my server and saw this- https://www.startech.com/m/HDD/Mobile-Racks/25in-SATA-Removable-Hard-Drive-Bay-for-PC-Expansion-Slot~S25SLOTR Thinking maybe this will allow me to mount my SSD cache in a pci-e slot. I don’t have any experience with this sort of thing, so wanted to get some feedback. The specs do show that no drivers are required.
November 13, 20178 yr That is just a "physical" mount. It does not use PCI-e for power and connectivity. You still have to have a free SATA port and power.
November 13, 20178 yr You can try something like this if you dont have a SATA port available. https://smile.amazon.com/Express-Adapter-Circuit-connector-included/dp/B01452SP1O/
