Using Raid card and onboard SATA at the same time advisable?

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm on day 8 of my trial, so far have 8 drives connected to my raid m1115 connected and have no more room on the card.  I also have 6 SATA ports on my motherboard, can I use those as well to connect more drives without creating a disaster?  Just was wondering so I can avoid buying extra raid cards.

Thanks in advance :)

No problem at all, just make sure they're set to AHCI, IDE works but it's not recommended.

That sounds great!  I already changed the sata ports from raid mode to ahci and plugged in a test drive.  The drive did show up in unraid when I started the server, I just didn't want to add it to the array in case it is bad practice or just will cause problems down the road.  I don't feel like rebuilding over 60tb of data :)

Thanks again for the quick response
