GPU passthrough issues - asrock 970 extreme4 - fx 6300 - HD7950

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any experience with the asrock 970 extreme4 and GPU passthrough? I've done everything under the sun (I think) and I only get a black screen, I think maybe that mobo just has issues.

Hi!

I have a 970pro3 r2.0 and I can passthrough a gtx970 and a hd6670 with no problems at all.

Did you turn on the iommu and vt-d settings on bios?

Hey guys sorry to steal the thread. I am having an issue with the exact combo. I am trying to get an rx480 passed through however unraid thinks iommu is turned off. I have looked everywhere in the bios and the only thing I can find related to virtualization is the amd virtual desktop setting. Any ideas?

I never had an issue finding IOMMU on the 970 ext4, I promise it's there but I can't recall on what screen in the bios. Maybe update your bios? Is it the same model mobo?

My issue did resolve. I didn't specify but at first I was trying to run with only one video card. I then dug up an old pos card to use as the host card and used the 7950 in the second slot but it still didn't work. I was actually trying to run everything headless and used an old vga monitor to make these changes. I then used an hdmi monitor and voila, works just fine headless and with steam in home streaming. I think maybe the card (via vga adapter) just didn't like vga? I may try to go back to one card, it's really crowded in that case...
