November 28, 20178 yr I'm in a bit of a panic here. My power went down today, but since the UPS kicked in and shutdown the server I didn't worry about it. Now, on power up I have a red X on the oldest drive in the array. I've attached the diagnostics zip, but SMART diagnostics are a bit over my head. Could someone have a look and see if they think the drive is salvagable. I'll probably swap it out in any case, but I'd like to get the array back online in the meantime. tower-diagnostics-20171128-1823.zip
November 28, 20178 yr Community Expert Disk was most likely already disable when the power went down, are system notifications enable? Smart looks mostly OK but a non zero Raw_Read_Error_Rate is never a good sign on WD disks, you can run an extended SMART test and if it passes rebuild to the same disk, if not replace.
November 28, 20178 yr Author I have notificaitons on and it gets a weeky parity check . I'm 100% certian that it was not an error before the power went down. Are the instructions up here OK to follow? https://wiki.lime-technology.com/UnRAID_Manual_-_FAQ#How_do_hard_drives_become_disabled.3F
November 28, 20178 yr Community Expert Yes, if you want to rebuild to the same use these: https://wiki.lime-technology.com/Troubleshooting#Re-enable_the_drive But recommend doing that only if it passes the extended SMART test.
November 28, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the help. Running an extended test now. Hopefully it will be OK until a replacement arrives. And luckily it was the last of my 2TB drives.
November 29, 20178 yr Community Expert Good, but keep an eye on it, if the Raw_Read_Error_Rate continues to increase it may be just be a question of time until there are more issues.
