November 30, 20178 yr It is great that the unRAID webgui is now protected by https, but it is causing confusion for people who are trying to find an alternative to port 443. Here are a few ideas that should help reduce confusion: 1. When adding or viewing a docker container: Under the "Show deployed host ports" option, add an entry for: unRAID WebGUI <http port> <https port> Beyond that, it would be really cool if the gui could parse the output of "lsof -i -P -n | grep LISTEN" to get the full list of ports that are in use. If not, perhaps add a line that says: Additional ports may be in use. See this list (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers) of common ports. If you are picking a number at random, it is best to pick something higher than 1024. 2. On the Settings -> Identification -> SSL Cert Settings page: Change the HTTP help text to: Enter the HTTP port, default is 80. If you need to change this, pick a value larger than 1024, such as 8080. Change the HTTPS help text to: Enter the HTTP port, default is 443. If you need to change this, pick a value larger than 1024, such as 8443. Then, consider adding javascript to display those help entries as soon as you click on the associated text box. Additionally, there have been problems with browsers caching the redirect from http://<ip> to https://<hash>:<oldport>, so I'd recommend adding a popup after the user hits Apply that says: If you are unable to reach the WebGUI after changing these values, clear your browser's cache.
