WDC_WD20EADS showing up as 1TB

Featured Replies

I installed a new 2TB WD drive, however unraid is only recognizing it as a 1TB.

Wondering if its an "advanced formatting" problem, i jumpered pins 7-8 to no avail.  still 1TB.

any suggestions?

This is your biggest drive in the pool? Is it the parity drive?

If your parity drive is a 1TB unit, unRAID will only format and use the first 1TB of the disk, so you need to assign the 2TB as a parity drive.

no, i have about 50 /50 1tb + 2tb drives.

I just tried "hdparm -N /dev/sdl" and it reported about 50% capacity, i set it to the max LBA and restarted.

For some reason only half of the drive was available to the OS, the rest was reserved...

Unraid shows the drive as 2TB now.  i'm going to test it for a bit and see if it holds up.
