**VIDEO GUIDE** Setting up a Ryzen unRAID Server with GPU passthrough -- The problems and solutions **

Featured Replies

Hi, Guys, this video is about how to build and set up an unRAID server using an AMD Ryzen CPU. In this video, you will see
how to get your server working with GPU passthrough and see the server running a Windows 10 VM and a high sierra VM.
You will see the problems I had with the Ryzen server freeing/locking and how I solved it.

Haha, your unwritten last advice "keep your fingers crossed and good luck", really sums it up. No kidding Ryzen does have potential :)

I am still holding off from ryzen but it's nice to see such progress.

Is it likely that all bugs will be resolved with ryzen?

AMD have no option. Fix or die. But a number of new processor generations have seen lots of early issues, because they are so complicated that it's hard to simulate everything. Even if they can simulate almost everything in the processor, they also need to simulate all possible ways the processor may interact with the surrounding system.

Best is problems that can be solved with some microcode. Worst is issues where it isn't enough with microcode or to replace the processor with a later stepping but where the chip manufacturer finds out that their original specifications for the motherboard design doesn't work out as intended.

Most probably, AMD would have a quite good view of the situation right now even if there may pop up some more issues.
