December 11, 20178 yr Resolution: Turned off Global C-States as well as updated bios to use the newest version of AGESA. Description: I am currently on unraid 6.4.0_rc15e trial version and I am seeing issues with my unraid server becoming unresponsive after some time of using. How to reproduce: - This happens every day and is reproducible by either leaving it the server on for a while or when files are being copied from one directory to another. - Most recently this happened while I was just browsing the Sonarr apps webportal. Also, if I am streaming from plex and not doing anything (downloading or accessing any installed apps) on the server, this issue does not happen...or at least as often. - When the server is unresponsive, I am unable to ping the host locally, the screen is at the tower login waiting for input and I have to hard restart it (pressing the power button on the host). Other information: OS: 6.4.0_rc15e Boot flash: SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 16GB USB 2.0 (plugged into USB 2.0) CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 1600 RAM: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4 PSU: CORSAIR CX-M Series CX450 450W Motherboard: ASRock AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac AM4 AMD Promontory B350 Storage: 1 x 2TB Seagate SSD Unraid setup: - No parity disk - No cache disk - Installed apps on docker: binhex-delugevpn, binhex-jackett, binhex-plex, binhex-radarr, binhex-sonarr Attached are the logs from Common Problems plugins troubleshoot mode, FCPsyslog_tail.txt and tower-diagnostics-20171210-1927.zip , however the latest incident happened at ~19:44 and the logs are from before then (19:27), so I am not sure how helpful these are. Note: Common Problems plugin is showing Machine Check Events errors. I have enabled mcelog, I will post those logs when available. -- Thanks! December 11, 20178 yr There are known stability issues with Ryzen and Linux, AMD is apparently working on a fix, until then disabling C-states on the bios seems to make it work for most users.
December 13, 20178 yr Author Thansk for the heads up! Turned off Global C-States as well as updated bios to use the newest version of AGESA, unraid uptime is now >24hrs, which is the longest it has been up continuously.
December 15, 20178 yr I just installed unraid last night and its frozen a couple of times already. Since my setup is similar I've just now disabled "c-state" in the bios. There is one difference though with mine, some system messages are sent to the screen. See attached photo. Last night it froze a couple of times while I was trying to test email notifications.
December 15, 20178 yr Author From your screenshot it looks like you are on Unraid 6.3. 6.3 is unstable with Ryzens. You should upgrade to 6.4, that is what everyone recommends for ryzens. Other than that, I can only recommend reading this thread and seeing what others have done to resolve the issue. My key take aways were to disable the global C states, use Unraid 6.4, and ensure your bios version is has AGESA 10.0.6
