Firefox Quantum = WOW

I have just returned to firefox after a long time wth chrome and i am completly blown away by the new firefox.

I didn't realize how much of an improvement quantum was over v56. The loading speed just blows it away. I think the speed is a bit more noticeable on older systems. Been using firefox so long, gotten used to some of the addons. I still need to get a few replacements for some addons I had in v56, before I can swap over to quantum for good. Some of the customization you have to do with css. I'm a creature of habit, been using firefox for over a decade now, took me a few hours to make it look like the old setup I was used to. Don't think I'll ever get used to tabs on top, above the url!

 

By the way you can download a portable version of quantum, that won't mess up your regular profile if you just want to test it out.https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

Yeah, I'm impressed with the new Firefox too and have switched back to it after using Chrome for a long time.

Thanks for this, ive also switched over from lass pass to the keepass extension, all fine but having issues getting cross platform sync to my android. I expect ill need to try another method.

Also moved back to Firefox, using Firefox Sync also.  Works great.

I wasn't able to watch my Blurays in a Plex browser at max quality under the old Firefox and I have a really beefy system. No problem under Quantum.

any of you android users?  I can switch fairly easily as a desktop user, but it's the mobile integration that I think would make it hard for me to go back

Yeah, I'm using Firefox on Android (Pixel 2).  No problems, even Pixel Launcher can use Firefox as it's browser.  Chrome never runs on my phone.

Switched over to quantum on all the computers last month, and remembered this thread. Just thought I'd tack a link into this thread. It's a custom Userchrome.css for firefox that has a ton of options in it that you can adjust, in a text editor, very easy to do.
