Anyone got Google Music Manager/web app working in a VM?

Featured Replies

I used to have it working, but recently it's stopped with the web app saying it's 'unable to identify my PC'.  I checked on google and apparently Google check mac addresses and don't like VMs.

The solution apparently is to change mac addresses and I tried one from here https://www.macvendorlookup.com/random-mac-generator but unraid said it didn't like multicast mac addresses, or something like that - can't remember the exact error message.

Has anyone else solved this problem?

Use a propper mac address. The one from that generator is not a valid one as you found out. I did post something in another thread about google music manager. Don't remember where to find a good one now.

You could try to use a mac from an existing card you have and modify the last three groups, as the first three are the vendor specific one.

Thanks - I tried a mac from my pfsense nic.  VM booted, but MM still didn't like it.  I'll try a few more variants to see if one works.

Thanks.  I'm keen to try using MM as an alternative to streaming from Plex when I'm on the road, now that the storage limit is 50k tracks

It's still working here with music manager web in Chrome.

You can find vendors mac addresses at this page.

I use 52:54:00 as the starting three, then just add your own combination for the last three and see if that works.

still no joy - must be something else going on.  I'm just going to use my wife's laptop or something.

Thanks anyway
