Passthrough works for everything except Win 10

Featured Replies

I am new to VM's but have watched space invaders great videos. I have successfully passed through my Gigabyte1050 ti using Ubuntu and Fedora. Windows will not work at all though. The screen just goes to no input immediately as soon as I try to pass through a card.

My setup:

MB: ASRock x299 Taichi

Proc: 7800x

Video: Gigabyte 1050ti & Radeon x1300 (very old)

The video cards are each in their own IOMMU.

I have tried Unraid 6.3.5 and now upgraded to 6.4.0 RC17B.  I also used Q35, i440fx, OVMF, and seabios. All the same results. Windows runs perfectly fine in VNC. I have tried passing through with just 1 video card installed and with both. I have even tried to pass through the x1300 while the 1050ti was primary. Windows will not work in any case.

Fedora and Ubuntu "just work" and I can easily do pass-through with just the 1050ti installed. Is there something in the template not compatible with my MB?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

So a minor breakthrough. I decided to try connecting to a different output port on the video card. I used the DVI port on a old monitor (my new one does not support DVI) and it worked!

The problem is even with the drivers installed with windows it can not see my monitor on HDMI. Why can Ubuntu and Fedora have no issue?

So after a few reboots of the VM it seems to be working. I think the secret was starting it with the DVI attached and installing drivers.
