XFS Cache disk pending sectors error and unmountable.

Featured Replies

I am trying to figure out how to replace this and keep as much data as possible.  IT shows unmountable when i start unraid normally.  It started with 11 pending sectors and is at 199 now.  To start, i do not know what the exact command is to tell it to examine the drive which is cache and does not have a number as per instructions here  - https://wiki.lime-technology.com/Check_Disk_Filesystems#Drives_formatted_with_XFS

The drive is labeled sdn according to unraid gui.  (But the wiki above says to call it dev sdX1 if its cache and that is the hangup i have in the command question above) Also i have purchased sysdev labs recovery explorer standard from my last data emergency, so i could take the drive out and put in another machine to copy data off etc.  Obviously i will be putting a new cache drive in to replace this, just one hopefully that has the data on it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Edit - additional question--- I assume i can pull the drive and run the array without it, seems like it might be a good idea since the pending sector count is increasing?

UPDATE. so i'm copying data with recovery on my windows machine from a usb3 hub, so far so good, 5 files bad which are all plex files.  posters, thumbs and a blobs.db2017-12-20.

once i get all this data moved over on windows machine i assume i can copy it back to a new cache drive, but anticipate some possible permissions issues etc,  Any comments as if to i am doing this properly.  Not a whole lot of data other than the docker stuff and docker image.  Maybe 15 gigs or so of stuff that hadn't been transferred over yet from the mover for today.  I had plex, sonnar, sabnzbd, deluge and a few other apps installed with docker image.

UPDATE 2, still cruising along, no replies.  Did i ask the question wrong or miss an obvious search?   I will have all the files copied over to a windows drive on the network in about 30 mins (its copying the docker.img file now which is last)  There were only 6 files that failed to process, so i think i got this right so far on my own.

UPDATE 3 , these are the files that it could not read  -

Does it matter that docker.img was unreadable? ie will a new docker.img just work? that is what i remember reading in the forums regarding this.   Would xfs_repair have worked better? I just didn't know what the cache drive should be labeled so i could not do the command.

I am going to ask for help in the unraid support chat as i haven't received any replies here.

Forgot to mention this is where i am at now - https://wiki.lime-technology.com/Replace_A_Cache_Drive  not quite sure how to proceed.
