January 1, 20188 yr Hi Guys, I am very new to unraid. I currently have a windows machine with various drives containing shares for which plex used for tv and films. Now I'm going to be building a new machine and run unraid on it as it appears to have everything I want and more but being a complete newbie to it I'm getting a little confused. So my new build setup is. 1x E5-2660 (has ability to add a second CPU should I need) 32gb Ram 1x 4tb (Was going to use this as the parity drive) 3x 3th (Data drives) 2x 128gb ssd ( cache drives) 2x lan ports for load balancing and redundancy 1x 16gb SanDisk USB stick So I use pled slit for my media and the kids stuff and I to make sure I understand fully before getting stuck in. The fact ill have the new build along side the old build is handy so no real rush to get it installed asap. I've been reading about split shares and I think that's something I'd need but not sure. This is how I currently store my media. FILMS Films\FILM NAME (YEAR)\FILM NAME (YEAR).mkv TV TV Series\TVSERIESNAME\SEASON\TVSERIESNAME -S01E01.avi I've always worked by keeping all tv stuff on one disk and films on another and same for kids stuff. Is this needed? Split shares I think is needed so either all TVSERIESNAME are stored on one disk or all SEASONS are stored together. Any help or advice? (I am a newbie so ill do my best to understand) Also one plex is installed do I point plex to the shares I set for tv and films etc? Edited January 1, 20188 yr by Smart13579 update
