current pending sectors on SSD cache drive

Featured Replies

I received this notification this morning-

Event: unRAID Cache disk SMART health [197]
Subject: Warning [BRUNNHILDE] - current pending sector is 1048576
Description: MKNSSDRE240GB-LT_ML170317100347B33 (sde)
Importance: warning

Followed by this one about 30 minutes later-

Event: unRAID Cache disk SMART message [197]
Subject: Notice [BRUNNHILDE] - current pending sector returned to normal value
Description: MKNSSDRE240GB-LT_ML170317100347B33 (sde)
Importance: normal

I've attached the SMART report, but it doesn't appear to show any problems. Also attached diagnostics. Maybe someone has an idea what is going on here?

I've had various SSDs from the same model doing the same sporadically, always when there's high I/O on them, if it gets back to 0 ignore, I suspect some firmware issue, note also that 1048576 dec. = 100000 hex.

Mover might have been running. Was about the right time. Never seen it before but I’ll ignore it next time. Thanks

If it is a true firmware bug then you can uncheck the attribute 197 for that particular device. See Main -> Device name -> SMART settings.

This will prevent any notifications when the attribute is incorrectly changed.
