Accessing smb shares on a windows 10 machine from Unraid

Featured Replies

How do i get around the @ sign in my user name on windows 10 (its my email address).  Specifically i am trying to add a win 10 samba shared drive to krusader.  Also if this ended up being an easy search for you, let me know what your search terms etc were.

Without thinking about it too much, you can create a separate account on windows 10, then allow that user rw access to the shared folder via advanced sharing and then mount the folder with the new user's credentials.

Thanks again squid for another reply of many times you have helped me.  That is all i could think of then maybe to hide the user on windows 10, or to edit my username on windows 10.  On that note i need to change all my network permissions as my children each have a computer on the network and could potentially get my unraid box encrypted by ransomware etc, since they currently have full access on network shares.

You might want to read my approach to addressing this security issue:

It is not the only the only way to address the problem but I can tell you it does work with a minimum of hassle if your prime usage is write once-read many.
