[Solved] Bridging cause network to go down

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm trying to create a bridge network for VM so that it has its own IP in the same network (I read the guide here), but whenever I changed the bridge from no to yes it caused Unraid to go down so I have to manually boot up in GUI mode.

My aim is to have Unraid and PC on the same tower.

In the settings >  network settings it says that the Eth0 is down, check your cable.

I'm not sure how should I fix it, googled and searched the forum but no one has problems like mine. I tried on 2 separate mobo and same result.

Here is my current build.

Hopefully someone can help on this. Thanks!

You say the interface eth0 is down under network settings. This would indicate the wrong interface is used on the system. Does moving cable change anything?

Your MTU size is set very low. It is recommended to used default size of 1500.

It was MTU size fault! Thanks for the help!

My setting was automatic, I didn't change anything on the network settings, I assign the IP from my router, so the MTU size from the info page is automatically given (I think). Now I made it static,  and changed the desired MTU to 1500, now it works without a hitch.

Thanks again!

EDIT: Is there anywhere I can mark solved for this?
