Easy way to put file system on drive through unraid

Featured Replies

I put two drives in my new setup and I did the preclear to test and get the drives ready, but I have decided to use them as plex temp drives (one for data and one for transcoding) and since I've wiped them, I can not mount them..   I think the only way to add a file system will be to add the drives to the pool then remove them. But, I am worried that once I add them to the array that I will not be able to remove them easily. Any suggestions?

The case if a pain to open and remove drives. I have to turn the computer off and pull the case out from underneath a desk, open both sides etc..  Just a pain. I am hoping that I won't need to pull the drives out to do this..  Thanks in advance..

If you set unassigned devices to "destructive mode", you have the option to format the drives within UD, along with mounting them.

Ok. I'm confused..  LOL  Where is that at? I'm almost done setting the new parity and going to be able to add drives.  Is it in the settings with adding drive? I don't see anything yet. But I can't stop the array yet..  I don't know what UD means.

I know I'm stupid, but I am a newbie..  I still have a few hours left for parity.. I'm hoping this will finish up soon..
