June 4, 201016 yr Finally purchased a License after using the product for several years. With 4.5.4 installed, I am struggling to get user security working properly. I have 3 users: amy, nicholas, dad I have a share called "Tunes" with Export Read Only Permissions. Dad is listed as an Exception, Amy and Nicholas are listed as Valid Users. Amy and Nicholas can connect to the share with read-only permissions, this is good. However, Dad does not have access to the share. All 3 users are on separate machines. If i move Dad from exceptions to Valid users I am able to access the share but cannot modify. Am I missing something obvious here? The worst thing about it: I am Dad! I want to be able to modify the contents of this share but want it read-only for the rest of the family. Thanks in Advance, -a12vman
June 4, 201016 yr From what you described... "Tunes" is read only... and visible on the LAN Valid users are Amy and Nicholas. Only they can access the share. Dad is an exception to the read-only permissions, but since he is not listed as a valid user, he has no access. I'm guessing if you add "Dad" to the list of valid users it will work as you expected. Do not remove "Dad" from the exceptions. Joe L.
June 19, 201016 yr Jesus, I got the same issue, no wounder it won't work in windows. Thanks Joe. Big hug. unRAID should have it as read only and full control other than Valid & Exception than. Make it more user friendly please. On a second issue, I have "me" on Valid and but "root" on Exception. However, I can't log into the share directory with me or root as well. When I try to use me, it will say I have no primission to access that location. I haven't have time today in office try it on Windows 7 yet, currently have problem on xp. So what should I do to make that share location to "me" as read only? I got the Pro licenses.
