January 7, 20188 yr Hi, since i installed newest update, i cant access smb shares anymore. unraid-server-diagnostics-20180107-1519.zip No error, just nothing pops up after clicking the server. (seems like it hangs) Restartet already. After instaling it worked, till i went to bed and woke up this morning. Everything else seems to work just fine. Edited January 7, 20188 yr by nuhll
January 7, 20188 yr Author Okay, after a while its working again, nothing changed, i will investigate it.
January 7, 20188 yr Latest Windows 10 version can disable SMB2, which can cause some fuckiness with unRAID (and many other NAS OS).
January 7, 20188 yr Make sure that your server is set to be the Local Master. You can force your server to 'win' the election by making the change described in the first post of this thread: https://lime-technology.com/forums/topic/53172-windows-issues-with-unraid/ There are a lot of other thoughts on 'fixing ' SMB problems in this thread.
January 8, 20188 yr Author I already have that, and the server says hes master. Never had problems, nothing changed. Now its again not working. Different clients, same problems window stays blank or just nothing happens. Seems like disks spinning up tho.
January 8, 20188 yr Author Okay, i noticed something strange. I tried to access the smb link to unraid, same behaivor as descriped. But i noticed i had a window open with a smb share /+++/++/... i can navigate and everything seems to work. And just btw, i dont bnrowse via name, i use IP. How on earth is that possible? January 8, 20188 yr Author If i click the link to \\192.168.0.2\Archiv its not working. If i go to run and type in \\192.168.0.2\Archiv its not working. But when i go to network and write ther \\192.168.0.2\Archiv its working. How is this possible? Edited January 8, 20188 yr by nuhll
January 8, 20188 yr I tried a portion of your experiment (using Windows 7 Home Premium) using Windows Explorer and found that it had a green bar that moved across the location bar while the drives spun up and the disks could be read. The time before the directory/folder list appeared was probably close to thirty seconds. Subsequent accesses were almost instantaneous. I also know that you have Windows explorer setup to provide file icons to indicate what apps are to be used to open files or have thumbnails of photos displayed as a part of the file pane, this will substantially delay the display of directory lists as the number of objects so tagged increases. (I seem to recall that this is the default behavior.)
January 8, 20188 yr Author Hi, im not talking about the normal delay when disks need to spin up. Im using urnaid since some months now. I know how it should be... Today is tartet my pc, and its working normal agian. (clicked link, window appears, disks spin up, folder there) There is some sort of bug, i dont know why. Or how. Also, i have the dir cache plugin, so disks dont need to spin up every time. Edited January 8, 20188 yr by nuhll
January 9, 20188 yr Note that if you don't have a master browser that is available 24/7, then it is a very slow process to learn the names of other devices on the network. Same if you have multiple devices that fights for being the master browser.
January 9, 20188 yr Author Again... the unraid server is and was always the master of desaster.... and its running 24/7. Today this issue didnt happend, i will post if it happens again. Edited January 9, 20188 yr by nuhll
