June 5, 201016 yr because of my current "misadventure" (see other thread) i am in the process of replacing anything smelling sub-par that could contribute to my server's hangs. (1) the syba sy-pex40015 sata controllers will be replaced by a supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 (found a "barely used" one through some local adverts, let's hope i can get my mitts on it). i will have to replace my asus 4350 pcie 16x with a powercolor 4350 pcie 1x to free up the only pcie 16x slot on my motherboard. (2) i am thinking of replacing my "old" pci gigabit nic (tp-link tg-3269c) with a pcie gigabit nic. i have two options: ** http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=26240NW6504&vpn=TG-3468&manufacture=TP%20Link tp-link TG-3468 ** http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=12200NW1336&vpn=EXPI9301CTBLK&manufacture=INTEL Intel PRO/1000 Ct can anyone confirm if either are compatible or not with unraid? the tp-link apparently uses a realtek RTL8168B chipset; the intel nic uses the 82574L chipset. they seem to be variations on hardware featured in the unraid hcl and might be just enough different to be somewhat incompatible. any opinion, any accounts of your experiences with this will be most welcome. cheers.

I know the Intel GigE adapter is compatible with unraid. IIRC it was also considered to be one of the best.
June 5, 201016 yr Author I know the Intel GigE adapter is compatible with unraid. IIRC it was also considered to be one of the best. the unraid hcl lists a "non ct" Intel PRO/1000 and checking the intel website, the controller chip varies from one version of the PRO/1000 (CT, GT, MT, etc.). thus i want to ensure the card's controller chip is supported by unraid, like with the tp-link card. i have observed from experience that it does not take much sometimes to make things incompatible... cheers.
