i have buy the mainboard this morning

i test it in few days

the config will be

antec twelve

athlon x2 250

2 go ddr3

m4a89gtd

2 x 1430 adaptec

14 drives for the beginning

and another card for 2 drives

mainboard is received yesterday

i wait now the second 1430 and i make my server

photos soon

 

 

i test the mainboard with 3 hdds this morning

all is fine

sata is good.

lan is good

everything is fine for the moment

4 drives on 1430 adaptec

but before i have 32 mo write speed

and now

12 mo or 20 mo not fix

i have order one supermicro card for 8 drives

If they are IDE drives, make sure you use 80 conductor cables, not 40 Conductor cables, and not round ones.

 

Other than that, if SATA drives, set your BIOS to NOT emulate a legacy IDE interface.

I was setting this motherboard up as a HTPC and during testing tried to use it with unRaid to preclear a drive.

It kept on dying during the write cycle ...

I couldn't get the screen back up so I couldn't check anything.  It froze a few times with hard lockups during writing.

I wasn't going to use the motherboard for an unRaid system so I gave up there (I would have liked to for the next build ...)

 

I should have come back here for more advice ... then I could be of more help

 

It passed the memory tests alright (after I RMA'd the first set of memory, and this was tried with the replacement memory)

 

With the memory I purchased the motherboard bios kept on detecting the timing and voltages wrong ... I went to the manufacturers website for the correct settings.

 

I'd be curious if your board does better ... I might take another look at it ...

yesterday i have received supermicro card pci express

and cables from honk kong

no hdds are on the mainboard

only on supermicro and adaptec 1430

all is fine

and the write speed is back

32 mo s constant.

parity check speed is back again + of 80 mo s

tomorrow i try to branch hdd on the mainboard

 

in bios only ide device is working

in ahci  no boot on the usb device

it s reboot and reboot again and again

bios is the last 1456.

i try to fix this

It was ok here too if I disabled everything except LAN, but I didn't like that.
