Is there a script or something I can set so that a syslog is saved (and timestamped) automatically on every restart?

I think it would be nice if I could just have them generated, stamped, and saved automatically.  I have lots of room on my USB thumb drive, so there's no worry about filling it up with syslogs in this lifetime.

    If you install the user-contributed 'powerdown' addon, it includes that functionality.

    It does it upon shutdown, but you can also trigger it on demand.

    It also prunes the number of logs kept to a configurable amount.
