removing a drive and doing a parity rebuild

Featured Replies

i don't know if i missed something in one of the updates, but i am using 4.5.4 and i have a drive that failed. i unassigned the drive, powered down, removed it from the system and started it back up. i want to rebuild the parity so it knows that the drive is gone, but i can not seem to figure out how.

thanks in advance

There used to be a button called 'Restore' on the Main page that would initialize (or restore) a fresh configuration.  This button was removed & instead there is a shell command to achieve the same result.

What you need to do is Stop the array, and then from the console or a telnet session, log in and type this command:

initconfig

Then go back to the Main page and click 'Refresh' - you should see all drives appear 'New' & you can now click Start and it will start a new parity sync.
