January 14, 20188 yr I added a disk in my machine and when i press my hard power button i hear a noise warning or something.. It immediately goes away as soon as i release the button, and my machine starts normal (so i hear not even 1 second...) what could that be?
January 14, 20188 yr Remove the disk and see if it still does it. Put the disk in a different machine and see if the noise is coming from the disk itself. If the disk is making the noise, then it's probably failing, bad bearings or something. If the tower is making the noise only when the disk is installed, my best guess would be power supply is marginal or failing. If you can't narrow it down, perhaps link a short video capture of what it's doing so we can hear the noise and see when exactly it happens.
January 14, 20188 yr Is it a beep alarm from the BIOS? If so, there could be various reasons - maybe a fan slow to start up, for example. If that happens when you power up with the new disk but not without then it could just be a power supply issue. I generally enable fan failure alarms in my machines but they are sometimes disabled by default. Depending on BIOS settings there could be other reasons too.
