July 1, 201016 yr I have some files in an unRAID drive with 0644 permissions and noticed if I edit them from a Windows machine they get 0755 after saving them. Is there a way to prevent this? Thank you for the feedbacks in advance!
July 1, 201016 yr Yes. In Windows you need to remove the 'archive', 'system', and 'hidden' bits from the files. This is how Windows maps to Samba permissions. Look into the SAMBA options of "map hidden", "map archive", and "map system" within the smb.conf man pages. [ http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=4674.msg43584#msg43584 ]
July 1, 201016 yr Author Thank you for the excellent pointer, BRiT. I resolved the issue by 'smb-extra.conf' and 'map archive = no' in it
